A Street

Rain splatters everywhere, on the street, umbrellas and cars that drive by. Though the overcast sky glows gray hiding the noon sun, everyone moves about with lunch time hurriedness. A line grows past the door of the local bakery, and men in long tailed business suits converse with each other over tables under the protective overhang outside the Café Chatéau.

Three stories up between stone blocks through an office suite window looks a woman in a high collared blouse watching the people move about as if in a symphony of dance. A few moments go by, and a man disturbs her inside, leading her away from the window. Far in the distance thunder booms. Men and women look momentarily away from their drinks and business up to the sky. Listening only for a moment, but in complete union, to the rain.
